A Letter from our Head of School

I am delighted to introduce you to our school and explain our vision for the education of our students.

At Coruna British School we are committed to each and every one of our students and pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with them and their families. We offer a personalised education, recognising and valuing the potential of all our children. Following the best of world and British educational aspirations we aim to lay the strongest foundations for the total development of each individual through a nurturing and child-centred approach. Our students grow a love for learning that is fostered by our outstanding teachers as they learn across a broad and balanced curriculum.

We are a family centred school, and we firmly believe that a child who is happy and confident is one who will thrive and learn. We value academic success and place great emphasis on the high expectations we set our students. With support, care and guidance we see our children reach these and go beyond. Our students learn in an environment that provides them with the necessary skills to progress in life and ensure that they are internationally minded lifelong learners.

We recognise that in a rapidly changing world our students learn to value independent thought, be able to analyse critically and be skilled in an increasingly complex and social workplace. They need to develop a resourcefulness that will see them through periods of challenge and change. As an international school we embrace the diversity of cultures within our community and help our students aim to make a positive difference in the world in which they live. We are aware that we are preparing society’s future leaders.

In this context, it is clear that the educational approaches that served previous generations do not have the capacity to fully prepare today’s children for tomorrow’s world. This is a real challenge for the Education sector, which the first British school in the city aims to address by becoming a British International School, with a clear objective: to prepare its students to change tomorrow through excellence in British education, with a global perspective and a clear international vocation.

Our school creates a safe, challenging and exciting learning environment within modern flexible spaces, we also maximise a range of opportunities outside of the classroom and we help our students become confident, independent and resilient learners. We are extremely proud of our students and know that they live up to their reputation for being fully-rounded children who have achieved high academic success meanwhile maintaining the values our families expect, that of happy children, learning with a sense of fun and confidence.

We will together, school and parents, take one step at a time, always striving to be the best we can for the very best of us – our students, your children.
